Chicken and Wild Rice Soup

Posted On January 15, 2017

I trust everyone had a wondeful holiday!  And here we are at mid-January!! I would say we need to maybe press 'pause,' since the month seems to be flying by so quickly, but I'm not a cold-weather girl, so I admit I'm counting the days until spring. A cold and rainy day just calls for a hearty soup, and this one does not disappoint!  I've made it extra-easy in that I take advantage of a long-grain and wild rice mix, saving considerable time as well. Disposable Prep Containers

As I mentioned in my first blog post, organizing and preparing are critical to the success of a finished dish.  When you take the time to organize your ingredients, you are forced to think about what you will be doing while cooking.  Recipes often call for adding different ingredients at different times in the cooking process.  For years, I used custard cups and stainless bowls of all sizes to organize my ingredients, and yes, that meant a lot of dirty dishes. How to Roast and Store Nuts

Food Processor Lid Clean-Up Timesaver

Posted On October 02, 2016

I love using my food processor, but I dislike washing all of its parts, especially those grooves in the lid.  Well, when you are using the blade in the workbowl (and not a shredding or slicing disc, or the food tube), I have a perfect solution for keeping the lid clean!  Just wrap the bottom of it with plastic wrap.   Now attach it to the workbowl as you normally do and process as usual with the chopping blade.  After I finish, I remove the piece of...

If Life Gives You Leftover Bread...

Posted On September 20, 2016

Make croutons!  Trust me on this - once you have tasted these easy-to-make beauties, you will never buy the packaged ones again! On a recent trip to Costco, I suddenly found myself in front of the fresh bread table (I thought I had complete control of my grocery cart...), and sure enough, staring at me were these loaves of Parmesan/Roasted Garlic Bread!  And...they were warm!!  I wasn't hungry (thankfully!), but I knew this bread had to go in my cart.  At the time, I never thought about the...
